Choosing the right dining room chairs for your home

Choosing the right dining room chairs for your home

Recently I had a discussion with a close friend of mine regarding dining chairs and what would be best for her home. I thought it would be a great idea to share what we discussed, and the pros and cons of different chairs based on your lifestyle and home!

Brown leather dining room chair It goes without saying that solid chairs with minimal fabric would be ideal for a home with young children and pets, who, let's be honest here, can sometimes get a little messy. But that doesn't mean you have to forego style in exchange for your loved ones! There are plenty of lovely options.

Bonded or tufted leather (real or faux) is a great way to add sophistication to a table while still maintaining durability with kids, but it may not be ideal for some of our furry friends who may claw at upholstery. They are easy to clean though so you don't have to worry about spills during spaghetti night! Win - win!

Dark wood dining room chair Metal, wood, or solid material chairs have been a go-to for years. A well made solid chair can easily last a lifetime and be passed down to family. For the minimalist, café or Scandinavian style chairs are a stylish option without creating a lot of visual clutter. Depending on your décor and design of your space, a traditional, Windsor, or ladder back chair can be ideal for a more formal - or casual - style and are easily adaptable to different spaces.

Linen covered dining chairUpholstered chairs are a favourite of many but consider how often the space will be used. Do you have an eat-in breakfast area as well as a dining room? If you plan to eat in these chairs regularly, you may also want to consider a medium to darker shade to help conceal potential stains. Scotchgard can be a chair-lifesaver when it comes to inevitable spills and messes.

Don't be afraid to mix and match with the style of your table! Cafe chairs with an intricate dining table can create a beautiful eclectic set, as well as simple tables with formal chairs that add interest to an otherwise simple and streamlined table.

Tufted dining room chairsI recently added new chairs to my farmhouse table. I chose the Jasper Natural Chairs! Almost any chair could have worked with this table, but I wanted to add a bit of an elegant touch to my space while keeping the look inviting. I do have three dogs, but with Scotchgard and the vacuum on my side (as well as the neutral grey-tone fabric) I think these chairs were the perfect choice for our family.

Have you chosen your perfect dining chairs, yet?

I really like this post. Having a nice dining set is important to comfort in a home. A place where you can sit for meals is just the beginning. Nothing like a nice thick natural wood table, that feels like you could park a car on it! Thanks,
