Versatile pieces of furniture are always a great investment and none more so than the bench.
There is so much choice, from sleek chrome and leather to really rustic raw wood, there is something for everyone and every room. There are many places in the home to utilise a bench and not just for sitting on.
One of my favourite looks is a long, lean rustic bench used in front of a sofa. This is a great spot for a stack of favourite books, a tray with some fresh flowers, collectibles or candles. Also a good choice if space is limited. They take up far less room than the traditional coffee table.
Another practical use is at the end of a bed. They make a good place to pile the pillows, throw a bath robe on or a comfortable spot to sit while dressing. Two smaller benches work equally well and can be moved around the room as needed.
Mixing and matching seating in a dining area is becoming more and more popular and ensures a decorating scheme is not too “matchy matchy” A great choice for young families, giving a more relaxed look and tons of seating for entertaining.
A hallway has long been a traditional place for a bench. Unobtrusive and the right height for pulling on boots, buttoning up coats and laying heavy bags coming to and from the car. It’s also a great place to seasonally switch your décor with pillows, baskets and florals.
Wicker Emporium is a fabulous source for a hardworking bench. Here are just a few of my picks.
