Soft and Rustic Beach Bedroom
Are you suffering from spring fever yet? Well, if so, perhaps revamping a bedroom will sort that out. I’ve designed a rustic and soft space to keep you dreaming of warm weather.
To replicate this look, choose the items that you won’t be replacing often first, such as the bed, dresser and night tables. I went with a light, neutral but warm bed frame as my starting point. Dress the bed with lots of soft whites and ivories and a few pale blue and tan throw pillows, which will echo the colours in the artwork, drapery and area rug.
For the dresser and night tables I chose a slightly darker wood than the bed frame, so things don’t match exactly but still are complementary. These darker wood tones will have a grounding effect for the entire scheme. I’m also loving the interesting metal wheel legs on the dresser.
Now I’d choose the area rug. This jute area rug was my winner, as jute rugs always make me think of summer and what could be more perfect in a beachy bedroom? This one with the dark grey herringbone stripe has a modern feel and will work perfectly with the light toned bed.
Since we have a stripe as in the herringbone area rug, how about a soft floral for the drapery? I love how these two patterns play against each other.
Now, just the final touches are needed. I like to look for something to place above the bed that isn’t typical piece of art, so these metal sand dollars were ideal. They will make a great focal point. Adding in a soothing and soft beach scene will reinforce the colour scheme further and pulling out a few shades from the artwork on to your decorative accents will give you all the finishing touches you need.
There you have it, the way to bring a little bit of the beach and summer home.
