A Family Business
WE, also known as wicker emporium, is a Canadian owned and operated retailer of solid wood furniture and home décor. Founder Madan Kapahi, opened the first wicker emporium in 1972 so that he could share treasures from his home country of India with his new friends in Nova Scotia. Through years of work and dedication wicker emporium has grown from a small boutique in Halifax, Nova Scotia, into a household name within Atlantic Canada.
Our brick-and-mortar showrooms can be found in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, PEI, and Newfoundland. With future growth and development being planned, wicker emporium aims to open locations in many city centers across North America.
We are dedicated to bringing you high-quality solid wood furniture. We help our customers to embrace the “natural way to decorate” with products that are live edge, hand-made from sustainable FSC certified materials which often include reclaimed or recycled wood.
Our goal is to allow customers to “feel at home” by allowing them to stay fashionable while avoiding expensive designer prices, as well as by offering expert advice that empowers you to become your own designer.
We take quality very seriously. Our President Raj Kapahi and his father, our founder Madan Kapahi work personally with the artisans and designers to bring you that perfect balance of quality and affordability. We stand beside our products and offer you a complete money-back guarantee if you’re not completely satisfied with your purchase
You can expect to find the latest styles and home décor trends represented on our showroom floor. We do our research and stay in the know with influential designers and home décor specialists to bring you the hottest styles at prices you can afford.
Proudly Canadian, we offer our employees the opportunity for growth and development in the workplace. Our dynamic environment encourages our team members to continually learn and grow. We are accepting résumés on a rolling basis from motivated individuals who are interested in working in retail.
Originally from India, Mr. Kapahi arrived in Canada in 1967 to practice law. After settling with his family in their new home in Halifax, he found himself looking for traditional wicker furniture - a comfortable and appealing reminder of home. He soon realized that what he was looking for couldn’t be found locally. Rising to the challenge, he opened his first store in Halifax’s Scotia Square Mall. During regular trips to Europe and Asia, he sourced local markets and vendors for unique, stylish wicker furniture and basketry. The business quickly grew into much more.
